Julia began her journey in music studying classical piano under the tutelage of Kathy Axam from Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music. On completing her training with AMEB she went on to undertake a Bachelor Degree at the School of Creative Arts specialising in Contemporary Vocals and Music Composition, while also working on the Contemporary Voice with Australia's leading voice specialist, Leigh McRae.

 

Regularly performing in venues across Sydney and the Central Coast Julia has worked alongside artists such as Prinnie Stevens, Barry Crocker, Darlene Zschech and Merrick & Rosso as well as featuring as a guest vocalist with Soul Deep, Busy Hands, One Foot in the Groove and Dr Bob and the Amazing Disciples of Groove.

 

Her performance experience also translates into the studio where she has recorded a several sessions with The SAE Institute and featured as a vocalist on a number of albums as well as writing and co-producing an her debut EP ‘Natural Progression' in 2006.

 

In recent years Julia’s musical focus has moved to the theatre and since studying at NIDA she has been involved in performing, music directing and composing for a variety of music and drama stage productions.

 

Now with over 25 years of education and experience Julia is the Assistant Faculty Head of Music at C3 College where she is involved in training up some of Sydney’s most promising musicians, vocalists and Song Writers.

 

Julia’s most recent work on the voice has been published in VocalEyes, a monthly publication released by the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing.
